What a great effort from our school community for the Smiles Day fundraiser that has been running for the past three weeks. When our captains did the final count last Friday, a total of $240 had been raised. This was well in excess of our original goal of $125 which was to be used to assist with the training of a teacher for a community that is much less fortunate than ours. It was terrific to hear of the ways some students raised their donations – helping dad peel potatoes; cleaning up bedrooms; and giving tooth fairy money. At Friday's assembly, the students decided to put the money towards school materials, sports equipment, uniforms and bags of seeds, as well as the teacher training. Well done to everyone and many thanks for your generosity.
